In AGING TROUBLE, two generations encounter each other in a radical way: five women over fifty have their voices embodied by young actresses. A documentary-performative experiment between reenactment, music, visual installation and physical theatre. The performance explores the thesis of whether the category of ‘age’ – similar to the category of “gender” – is simply a social construct, and what it means to be labelled ‘old’.
A theatre evening that tells of the unease between generations with artistic force and personal depth. Between intimate texts and choral sounds, a multi-layered picture of female biographies emerges – full of pride, anger, wit and dignity. ‘Old’ life experiences appear in young bodies and in a new light.
Because being ‘old’ is not a personal failure. And because it is time to listen to each other.
